Academic Advising Center
The Academic Advising Center (AAC) is dedicated to helping you reach your personal, academic and career goals at NIU. If you don't have a major or connection to one of NIU's colleges, we'll help you find your ideal program. If you dream of attending medical or another professional school, we'll help you get there. And we'll be there if you ever need to change direction, all the way to graduation.
Online Pre-orientation Advising
First-year students (freshmen), will not receive advising for classes at orientation. Instead, you'll attend an online advising appointment before orientation. You'll receive an email in your NIU account four to six weeks before your orientation date directing you to select a time for this appointment.
If you have any questions, contact the Academic Advising Center at aac@niu.edu. If your major is in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, please contact one of the following advisors instead:
- School of Art and Design: Bethany Geiseman, bgeiseman@niu.edu
- School of Music: Brigid Findley, bcrawford@niu.edu
- School of Theatre and Dance: Stephanie Sailer, ssailer1@niu.edu
