What did you want to be when you were growing up? Are you pursuing that as a major, or have you taken another path?
I wanted to be a forensic and/or clinical psychologist, which is why I’m pursuing a B.A. in psychology.

What is your major (and/or minor) and why did you decide on this course of study?
I am majoring in psychology with a certificate of study in criminology and minor in counseling

What has been something you have found pleasantly surprising about your experience at NIU?
The sense of belonging and involvement in campus activities.

How have you connected with other students to study for classes, meet new people or form new friendships?
I’ve usually connected with others through study sessions in the library or a quick Qdoba run.

Are you involved in any student organizations, mentoring programs or extra-curricular activities? If so, which ones? How have they added to your experience as a Huskie?
I’m a volunteer at the Huskie Food Pantry. This experience helped me grow as a person and develop great relationships with others.

What NIU offices, departments or resources have helped you succeed? And how?
The University Honors Program. All the advisors truly do a great job and genuinely care for the success of their students.

What Honors Program opportunities or support have helped you get closer to your academic or career goals so far?
I liked the Forage Job Stimulation.

What do you enjoy the most about the Honors Program?
I enjoy the sense of community.

Who has been one of your favorite instructors/professors and why? What course did they teach?

Madelyn Anderson (COMS 100). She is an amazing instructor and is clearly passionate about her subject. She will go out of her way to make students comfortable and help them out.

How have you benefited by attending class regularly?
I’ve found that by attending class regularly I can spend less time studying, as I’m already familiar with the topic in question. You also build respect with your instructor.

Where is your favorite spot on campus or in the community? Why are you drawn to it?
The Holmes Student Center and Founders Memorial Library. There’s always some kind of event going on, and I get to share those experiences with my friends.
